backes Power equipment
Origionally called Backes Farm Equipment, John Backes established the business in 1946. Catering to the area farmers. John sold and repaired farm tractors and other equipment.
In 1965 John passed the business on to his son Joe Backes. Joe changed the name to Backes Power Equipment in keeping with the times. There were fewer farms then but the homeowners and landscapers were quickly picking up the slack with lawn and garden equipment.
Joe sold the business to Avon Equipment Company in 1985. Avon Equipment Company was established in 1970 by John P. Garilli and Art Jenne.
Backes Power Equipment formerly run by the late John P. Garilli continues to be owned and operated by the Garilli family. John P. Garilli's son John R. Garilli, daughter Donna Newton and wife Pat Garilli will continue to fulfill Pat's motto " We sell Service and Service is what we sell".
We stock and sell a wide variety of yard and garden equipment for both the commercial landscaper and residential homeowner.
Our service department offers courteous and reliable maintenance from routine service to major repairs. Our certified techs have many years of experience in both commercial and homeowner machines.
